Decided on race day to enter. Nice comfortable day. Since the course runs up my street I figured why not? There were 600+ people registered which is great for the event but made it a logjam at the start. It took about 30 seconds to get out on the road (no timing chip). It’s a flat asphalt course with one minor “hill” at the end.
I think my pace was about 9 minutes/mile throughout the run. My left heel and calf felt OK, so I was happy about that. Tried to kick it up the last 1/2 mile. I am OK with the time/pace, knowing that it would be possible for me to run a sub 9 minute/mile 10K in the future. When I run the course in training I doe about 11:30/mile.
I did my best for that day. I’m happy.
Shoes: New Balance 859 with Orange Superfeet inserts.
